“ Die Hard Roll. Never had anything like it! Salmon sushi was like butter! First time here and we'll be back. Soooo good! ”
“ Stumbled upon Fuji sushi while looking for new sushi places to try out. Didn't realize it was in downtown! We were a party of 2, a table of 4 (2 tables) was open but they said only sushi bar available. Actually I preferred the sushi bar more because the table space is way bigger than a 2 person table. We ordered the chicken karaage for appetizer and it was alright. It was kind of cold so it seems like it had been sitting for a while. For the rolls, we ordered Happy Together, Godzilla, and Leo's Choice. Leo's choice was my least favorite, it was quite messy because it had a lot of toppings and sauce on top. If you like eating onions you should get this. Godzilla was my favorite, it has hamachi, salmon, tempura and spicy crab. Happy together was also really good, basically like a crunchy mango roll but it could have used more crunchy flakes. Overall a pretty decent sushi place in downtown san jose, we were surprised that it was in downtown. ”
“ Came here for Valentines, very good experience ! Showed up a little late to my reservation and was still attended on a busy night ! Upon setting we were attended quickly and happily Ordered the South SJ Roll which was delightful with Salmon ! The house sake was great as well especially on cold day ! I love the look of the inside reminds me of those Asian joints you see in movies definitely would recommend and go again ! 9/10 ”
“ Came here on a Wednesday night after story time at the local library. Had a craving for sushi so I was happy to find a spot close by. We had our toddler in the stroller so it was easier for us to sit outside. I'm sure high chairs were an option but our little guy does better seated in his stroller. The waitresses were so sweet about us sitting outside; preferring us to sit inside but we insisted. They checked in with us frequently to make sure we were ok. WHAT WE ORDERED - sashimi appetizer: great quality, came with 2 salmon and 2 tuna. It was a great option to the roll since I did not want a full plate of sashimi. - teriyaki beef appetizer: great serving side for our toddler and the teriyaki sauce was not too sweet. Our little guy loved it. - spicy edamame: great spice level but too spicy for my personal preference. My husband loved it though. - Alaskan roll: very filling, could do without the mayo sauce on the top - dinner bento w/ short rib, bugolgi, and katsu (miso soup, rice, and salad included): my husband thought the short ribs and bugolgi had good flavor; saved his katsu for lunch the next day. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and would be happy to come back again. ”
“ We never really go to downtown San Jose but we had friends in town and they picked this restaurant. We were happy to oblige and try something new. Ambiance: The place is small and cozy. Service: The staff was extremely pleasant and attentive. Food: I usually take better pictures but we were with a big group so I did my best. Also no picture of the bill. - Beef Curry: I ordered the beef curry and it was DELICIOUS! This is something not all Japanese places carry but now that I know they do we'll be going there again. - South San Jose Roll: My wife got this and she said it was delicious. - Tonkatsu Ramen: My younger son got this dish and he enjoyed it. Please be aware it is a HUGE portion so you'll leave with left overs. - Bento Box: My older son got the Chicken Katsu bento and he finished it. I have never seen him absolutely destroy a bento box like this. - Mochi: We got Strawberry and Mango mochi for the adults and the kids and it was a hit!! Price: for 8 people the bill was close to $400 (including tip; we had sake). I'd say the food was on the expensive side but worth it ”
“ My introduction to Fuji was with my late friend, Drea. This place will always have a special place in my heart! And what a lifesaver!! My flight got in late, and by the time I checked in, I needed to eat! Looking around on Yelp, Fuji came up and I was like, oh man, YES!!! It's been way too long! Parking can be a challenge. They close at 10, I arrived at 9:20. Cheerful welcome when I walked in. She: Can I get you something to drink? Me: Small hot sake She: The small is like this so maybe the large... And she was right! A young man came to take my order. I got the I Like Eel Roll, which was sooooooo good! And I asked which one should I get, udon or ramen, and he said ramen. Then said the spicy seafood was his favorite so I ordered that. I didn't know a small half crab was going to be in it, and a large mussel...soooooo damn good on a chilly night! Really loved the broth! This is one of the best OG places in San Jose to come to! Definitely worth checking out! ”
“ Came here on a Thursday evening as a party of three and we were seated immediately, though the shop itself isn't very large it feels super cozy and the decor is quite cute. There are plenty of options on their menu including nigiris, curry, bentos and more but my friends and I really just came here for the rolls. We ended up ordering 9 rolls and all of them were amazing. The rolls that were either fried or had a fried element (eg. fried soft shell crab) had a great light and crisp texture which was pleasant. Every roll that had fish tasted fresh with no distinct fishy flavor which was great. The hamachi was soft and buttery in texture and I particularly liked it in the Ninja roll with the smoked salmon. They have some very unique rolls here and my favorite of the night was definitely the ninja roll because I've never had smoked salmon in a roll before and the light smoked flavor was distinguishable but not overpowering, and it really gave the roll a nice deep savory flavor which is quite enjoyable. The atmosphere is casual and the service was attentive and kind so I would recommend coming here if you're in the area and enjoy sushi! ”
“ Warmly greeted. Pleasant ambiance and background music. It's a surprisingly large restaurant considering the store front. Very clean throughout, as well. The Regular Assorted Sashimi was fresh and decent size. The Sunomono was good, but typical. (I opted for no tako or ebi.) The Dragon Balls were a pleasant surprise. I was expecting something like takoyaki, but it was more like a lightly deep fried stuffed mushroom x 4. This is a must whenever I come here! I am not used to a separate charge for plain, white rice. My usual spots do not charge for a bowl of rice (or hot tea, either.) Service was attractive, yet not intrusive. If you're in DTSJ, check them out. It's also only a 15 minute walk to the SJ Center for the Performing Arts. ”
“ Service is 10/10 they are all friendly and welcoming. Ambiance is pretty chill nothing special, we came in after lunch hour so not that busy. Food is decent not having a "wow" factor for it but good enough for price. Sushi Rolls - Presentation: 9/10 - Size: 10/10 - Quality & Flavour: 8/10 * Im not sure if it was coinsidence but all our sushi had jalapeño on top of them. Would be great to have non-spicy options too. Ramen - Presentation: 9/10 - Size: 10/10 - Quality & Flavour: 7/10 *lack on flavour for the broth which would have made the ramen taste better, but size and quantity of toppings are enough. All in all we had a good experience. We would come back for sure! Hopefully quality and size of fish on the Nigiri & Sushi Rolls gets better. ”
